About the Garden
What makes our produce special?
Chester Gardens, in a lot kitty corner from the café, is part farm & part neighborhood improvement project. Since the 1970s, gardening & cooking, united in a dining experience, is increasingly common. Planning the two together is a mainstay of modern cuisine. Cooks have always known that walking through one’s garden in the cool of the evening to harvest what will soon become dinner & then preparing that dinner is an undertaking difficult to equal. Connection to land, to craft, to family & to home come together in one experience.
Sustainable approach
At Sara’s Table Chester Creek Café is a full-service farm-to-table restaurant with a focus on sustainability and building community through its support of the local economy. We do this by paying our employees a living wage and choosing small, local producers whose mission is to bring the highest quality products to market while caring for our regenerative ecological systems. Most of our purveyors do follow organic standards, and many, but not all, are certified by the USDA and the Midwest Organic Services Association (MOSA.) Another hallmark is our choice to obtain humanely raised and harvested meat whenever possible.
