There’s something special about knowing exactly where your food comes from.
Just across the street from Sara’s Table Chester Creek Cafe sits Chester Gardens, our summer garden filled with fresh herbs, flowers, leafy greens, and seasonal vegetables that make their way from the garden to your plate. It’s one of our favorite parts of summer, and one more way we bring the freshest flavors possible to every meal we serve.
This season, our garden is thriving with crisp lettuce, tender spinach, fragrant basil, fresh tomatoes, cilantro, dill, colorful edible flowers, and more. As the growing season continues, our chefs harvest what’s ready and incorporate it into menu specials, fresh salads, sandwiches, garnishes, and house-made recipes whenever possible.
Growing our own produce isn’t just about freshness. It’s about creating a stronger connection between our kitchen, our guests, and the community we call home.
We believe great food starts with great ingredients. By tending our own garden, we can grow varieties that are difficult to source and harvest them at their peak. That means brighter flavors, fresher herbs, and ingredients that travel only a few hundred feet instead of hundreds of miles.
Our gardens are also part of our commitment to sustainability. Growing food on-site helps reduce transportation, supports environmentally responsible practices, and reminds us of the value of seasonal eating. Every harvest is a celebration of what Northern Minnesota can produce during our beautiful summer months.
The next time you visit, take a moment to appreciate the fresh herbs, vibrant greens, or edible flowers on your plate. There’s a good chance they were growing in Chester Gardens just hours before they reached your table.
From seed to harvest, and from garden to table, we’re proud to share the flavors of the season with our community.
Thank you for supporting local, seasonal dining. We can’t wait to serve you something fresh.
